Chicken Tonight
Why don't we each tell about how our English teachers thought us english in secondary school?
Well for me, I had this teacher in Form 1 whom I referred to as 'Chicken Tonight'. Remember an advert on TV a long time ago of the seasoning called that? And everyone in the show kept on flapping their arms. This teacher of mine, has a muscular disorder (very bad of me to pick on it I know :P) but her right arm keeps on jerking.
When she teaches. She walks into the classroom, asks us to open our textbooks, selects 10 pages and asks us to do our work from there. Then she would just sit down at her table to mark other student's work or just day dream.
"Okay class.. turn to page 105. Do Section A, B, C, D, E and F.. All questions. Pass up your work at the end of the period."
This would go on every day. It came to a point where me and my classmates got bored of the regime and started predicting how many questions she would give us from the book that day. Apart from that, we also started skipping the questions. For example if we were suppose to do 10 questions, we would only do the exercises with odd numbers.
The best thing is that our dear teacher is oblivious to all of this. She just kept on marking our work without looking at it properly. To prove the point, I wrote "Puan ***** is stupid" in a few of the exercises we were asked to do. True enough, I got a red tick for my handiwork :P
English lessons were definitely a bore for us. Particularly since it is SO basic. Probably the only thing I learnt from it was what are adjectives, past-present and verbs. The technical part of the language.
